MDG were appointed by Mott MacDonald to provide assistance for a number of feasibility studies on flag ship court buildings throughout the country. The purpose of the reports, which were undertaken during the first summer lockdown, was to determine the limitations of the existing building and to propose mitigation measures to allow operations to resume and users to socially distance themselves at 2 metres, 1.5 metres and 1 metre.

The ground breaking study, involving MDG and Mott MacDonald expertise, included spatial studies involving the incorporation of one way systems, internal barriers, splitting court operations via video link as well using BIM to undertake a detailed epidemiology study into touch points around the building.

These priority reports were submitted to HMCTS and the findings are now in the process of being incorporated into the court buildings to assist in maintaining occupation and service during lockdown.
