MDG Architects have secured planning approval for 6 new consultant rooms, patient reception and welfare provisions, as well as a significantly expanded car park for Atherstone Surgery.
The sustainable proposals include valuable specialist consultant rooms for clinicians and visiting specialist services, and also provides a dedicated after hours facility for the provision of primary care outside the surgeries core hours. An expanded car park will remove current pressures on parking in the local streets, and includes sustainable drainage, and provision of a number of electric vehicle charging facilities for staff and visitors.
The expansion has been made possible through the gifting of some of the adjacent park land by the Town Council, so that the borough can meet the forecast growth in housing in the area. MDG Architects were instrumental in driving forward the land Acquisition through consultation with the various stakeholders, as well as providing assistance in public consultation throughout to ensure the submission received full local support without any objections being raised.
Practice Manager Karen Clarke stated:
‘We are delighted MDG Architects have secured planning approval for us today for a new state of the art medical wing, which will allow Atherstone Surgery to meet its ever increasing community obligations, providing enhanced services to its expanding patient list. These new consultation rooms and dedicated after-hours clinic are the next phase of planned improvements for the surgery following our recently completed surgery expansion and pharmacy, which was also overseen by MDG Architect, Darren Newitt’.
Construction is planned to commence late September for completion in December.
